Monster Track Weekend 2007

Monster Track weekend is here and you had better be ready. Whether or not temperatures peek above freezing, the streets will be a beautiful mess for the 8th annual race. This schedule may change, so go with the flow, keep your eyes open and your legs moving. And watch the highlight reel from Monster Track 7 while you have the chance.

Tonight, witness the release of Amy Bolger’s new book, New York Alleycats, pre-register for the race and pick up checkpoints at Grand Central Bar from 6 to 9 (659 Grand St, Brooklyn). Pre-registration will continue from 9 ‘till infinity with Goldsprints at Lulu’s (formerly Lost & Found) (113 Franklin St, Brooklyn).
Saturday, grease up your chain and be at the polo court at Houston & Chrystie between 2:00 and 3:00 to meet the competition and work out your route because the race begins at 3:30. Track bikes only, no brakes, halloween costume preferable. There’s going to be a prize for best costume, so make sure your GWAR suit looks tight.
Saturday night, there will be an afterparty with awards, bands and djs throughout at some place awesome (to be announced later).

Sunday, shake yourself out of bed and get over to Lulu’s by noon for some trackside events: skids, trackstands, footdown and the like.
Monday, rest. Hopefully you’ve got the day off to polish your whip and take a spin through the park. Thank goodness it’s President’s Day.
